Larry Lobster, a two year old red fawn male, was injured in an accident this past weekend during his training at Lorain Correctional Institution. He and his littermate, Squid (are you surprised, really?), and the other greyhounds were out running in the fenced recreation area and Lobster slipped and fell, severely fracturing his left rear leg and tearing the attaching muscle tissue.
His vet bill will top $2500, which is painfully out of Team Greyhound’s reach. (Not as painful as what Lobster is going through, of course)
SO, we’re having some fundraisers:
1. The Northeast Ohio Branch of Team Greyhound has teamed up with Applebee’s, who will sponsor a Dining to Donate event , on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Middleburg Heights location, 6871 Pearl Road (Southland Shopping Center area). Applebee’s will donate 15% of your check to Team Greyhound when you dine in or carry out during those hours.
You must present the flyer to your server at the restaurant in order for Team Greyhound to receive credit for your purchase. Please print the flyer, send flyers to friends, neighbors & co-workers, and ask them to do the same. Remember to buy your Applebee’s gift card at Giant Eagle beforehand, and you will get back 20 cents per gallon in fuel perks too!
2. Sublime Salon on Chagrin Blvd in Orange Village is donating 10% of their retail sales from today through Saturday October 24 to Lobsters surgery.
3. Team Greyhound’s website is taking donations via Paypal here.
4. Checks can go to:
